Color Trauma Part 3:
Yellow was another no no color for redheads. On top of always hearing that it would "wash my already pale skin out", I still remember like it was yesterday when I wore a yellow shirt and was told by my first grade teacher very loudly in front of many, how I shouldn't have worn it because it made me look like a flower and would attract bees with my orange hair.
I was also always told and heard growing up that stripes made you look fat. I loved stripes but stayed away from them because I didn't want anything to make me look bigger than I already felt.
I went shopping a few weeks ago and not only got yellow and stripes BUT found 2 shirts with them together! Now I can dress like a freaking bee.
Wearing a color seems so simple and silly but if you were told something so long, the engraining can run deep. It was so difficult for me to buy a yellow shirt in fear of what it would look like and I was actually shocked at how much I loved the yellow! I ran through the house to show Josh and the kids each shirt, saying "I look amazing in yellow! I should have always worn it!"
Im curious, what colors were you told not to wear growing up because of your hair or skin color, etc.?
**If you are a fellow redhead, rock that white, pink, yellow, orange and red!!!**
