Color Trauma Part 4:
Red was the biggest no no color of all for being a red head, but especially for me because of the following.
With the bullying I endured with my hair color, freckles and body, when I wore red I was called a Strawberry. (round, red and spotted). I was told other things like It made me look even whiter than I was and I was already too white, how it clashed with my hair and that it made me look like a walking menstrual cycle. That red was bad because red heads have a fiery temper and I shouldn't enable it by wearing it because red meant anger and violence. But then the flip side, red meant lust and seduction and how I shouldn't wear it because people would get the wrong idea like I was putting on a red light for all to see. What the hell?? I think I was like 13 when I was told the red light thing.
𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆??
Anyways, as you can guess, Red was the last color I would chose for anything. I never even have decorated my house in anything red as it always has caused a little bit of panic from the childhood bullying and fear of what people would think I meant by the dang color.
After going through all the other colors to wear, I resisted buying anything red for very good reason. I knew I had to for my own benefit and healing so I finally found a red shirt. It sat in my room for awhile before I would even bring myself to try it on. I was surprised at how much I actually liked it when I wore it yesterday! 𝑰𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒌𝒍𝒆𝒔, 𝒊𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏 "𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕" 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈!
I think I might actually buy more red now!
